Day 9 of Christmas – An Affordable Make-up Starter Kit

Day 9 of Christmas - An Affordable Make-up Starter Kit
This post features product suggestions for anyone just starting out with makeup. I’ve included just the bare essentials to have a complete set and even better all products are under $8 dollars each, with most products coming from Forever21 and the kabuki brush coming from H&M.
The Forever21 brush set is labelled with what the brushes are for, which will make the whole learning process much easier. Not having to remember which brush is for what will really take the load off.
There’s a lip gloss included to give a twinge off colour to the lips and to help with keeping your lips moisturised. A mascara is there to help your eyes really pop. But wait . . . you want more, you ask? Well, have no fair. There’s also some false lashes at varying lengths that you can try out with the use of the included glue.
The ’21 Shades Palette’ comes with tons of neutral eyeshadow to try. There’s a packet of make-up wipes to take it all off at the end of the day, there’s a cute little ‘Are You Kitten Me Right Meow’ compact mirror to watch all this happen and in the end there’s a chic make-up pouch to store it all in.
So that is all. Everything is from Forever21 except the kabuki brush which is from H&M. I got a the links to the different products for you guys. Hope you like.
Bye everyone and I’ll talk to you in the next post.

#TheWinterProject – Christmas Present Ideas

#thewinterproject

This week it’s week 4 and this post will be about Christmas gift ideas for men and women and since I don’t really post anything about guys, let’s do their section first shall we.

For the boys

If you’re like me you find it very hard to find gifts for guys when you’re so caught up in the world of girl. Am I right? Well, for you all I’ve come up with a few gift ideas for the guys.

gfg(VRO)

Grooming Kit

We all need to look our best right? And so how can you go wrong with a grooming kit. This grooming kit, seen above, from Sephora comes complete with a nail file, nail clippers, a lint pad, small scissors and . . . a cork screw? This one is in a good travel size, but you can get any other grooming kit that you wish.

Cologne

Some guys like cologne, and so if the guy you’re shopping for likes it why not get him some? You could get him a fragrance set like the one above or maybe just something similar.

Silly T-Shirt

Have a bit of fun and get them a T-Shirt with a silly caption, this ‘Sorry Girls, This Guy Is Taken’ Tee is a good example. You could even have a shirt custom printed with anything you want, maybe even with something they say a lot. It’s 21 days before Christmas so there’s still time.

Jewellery

Who says guys don’t like jewellery? The necklace is a Harry Potter Dark Mark Necklace, so if you have any Harry Potter Fans or just jewellery lovers in general then this piece would be a good gift for them.

Guy Kit

A guy kit comes filled with goodies for boys, for example ‘The Man Can’ in the picture above has some great things for guys.

Sea Salt Soap

You could always give something unusual, I mean who’s ever heard of sea salt soap? Or, of course, you could always think of something else unusual to give a little spice to your Christmas gifts this year.

Teddy Bear

Teddy bear. Why? Why not? What would be better than to see that look on his face when he unwraps a teddy!?! Priceless! Give a try and tell me the reaction in the comments of this post later. We can make a game of it.

*Bonus – You could always bake something as little something something extra with the presents.

For the girls

Now onto the girls.

GFG1(VRO)

Friendship Bracelet

Get one for her and you (or maybe for her and her friend if you’re her mom, or, uncle . . . or something). Friendship bracelets mean a lot and would make a great Christmas present. Get a design that would suit both wearers.

Makeup Sample Set

Are you shopping for someone who has just starting to try out makeup or someone who likes trying new makeup products? If so, then this SmashBox Try It Kit would be great for them. It would give them the chance to try out a variety of products without your wallet having to suffer.

Travel Brush Set

This is good for girls that travel or those who just like to have a makeup touch-up here and there when they’re not a home. This set is travel friendly as it is travel size and so wouldn’t take up much space in a purse or suitcase.

Perfume

Have a girly girl or a perfume lover on your hands? Then get them ‘Dot’, a highly raved  Marc Jacobs perfume.

Makeup Bag

I know I don’t like using the same makeup bag over and over again, so add to her makeup bag collection. Get a makeup bag design that embodies her personality – there are just so many to choose from. You can check some out here or here.

Handbag

Handbags can be really expensive, but the one above is a real steal as it looks so great for such a reasonable price. But, if you want to splurge on a handbag this season go ahead. In the end it’s all about what you feel comfortable with.

So these are all the gift ideas that I came up with for guys and girls. What do you think?

Which ones would you get or would like to receive?

Later everyone, I’ll talk to you in the next post.

#TheWinterProject – Winter Accessories

#TheWinterProject - Winter Accessories

Winter, winter, winter, it means so many things; the start of colder weather and the ending of the school term – both of which I’m excited for. And, winter also means that I can break out my favourite winter accessories.

Scarves and mittens!

I love these accessories for winter, they keep you warm and their stylish too. Winter could possibly be my favourite season of the year; I just love how cold it gets, even here in the Caribbean – although it doesn’t get THAT cold here. But, scarves and mittens at night time are definitely an option.

There are just so many types of scarves my favourite though is the infinity scarf, there are just so many ways that you can wear it and that’s good for me because I like to switch things up every now and again.

In my opinion though, mittens keep you way warmer than scarves do and they’re my favourite of the two. They can be so comfy, chic and even kind of corky at times.

So, what would you say are your favourite winter accessories?

Bye, I’ll talk to you in the next post.

MINI HAUL | November 2013

HAUL 1113(VRO)

This is my first ‘Haul’ post you guys!

It’s been a while since I’ve been shopping, I haven’t told you guys this yet but  I’m actually in my last year of high school and the pressure is on, but it was about time that I restocked my hair products and so on Saturday I went shopping and got a little extra along the way.

I just bought some of the products that I usually get for my hair as ‘Organic Root Stimulator’ is one of my favourite hair brands. The products really help with my dry hair and breakage. I got a mousse, jojoba oil scalp moisturiser, a hair moisturiser and a conditioner that came with a shampoo sample.

I also got a nail polish from ‘GLAM’. When I saw the colour I couldn’t resist. The colour is actually very similar to one that I had in my ‘Winter Nails’ post from a few days ago and I’m not going to lie, as soon as I got home I just had to put it on!  It has a good formula though it could’ve been better. If you put on multiple coats at a time without giving each coat time to dry completely, you’re gonna have hell in getting it to dry after making that mistake.

Last is the makeup bag, I’ve been meaning to get a new one for a while now. The on I had before was one of those flat ones and it was a bit too small for what I wanted to put in it. This one though is not too big, but it has plenty of space and it even has slots inside to hold makeup brushes. I’d prefer it if it didn’t have the handle at the top but oh well.

Now to go do the work that I’ve been putting off! 😦

Bye you guys, talk to you in the next post.

Monthly Favourites | October 2013

This is my first ‘Favourites’ post, so here we go.

Favourites:

October2013(VRO)

KleanColor ‘Double Rainbow Splendor – Realism’ Palette

This palette comes with 10 neutral shimmery eyeshadow shades and 2 different coloured blushes. I don’t use the blushes in this palette as I’m not really a blush wearer, but they are two good shades as far as blush go.

Don’t let the varying shades of the eyeshadow fool you, not matter how dark some of them may look they all look like varying shades of a highlighter when applied and so that’s what I use them for – to highlight the inner corners of my eyes.

All the colours are easy to apply and last a good while throughout the day!

You can get the exact same palette here.

Degree ‘Motion Sense’

I think that the ‘Motion Sense’ collection is the newest line in Degree deodorants. To me it has a typical deodorant smell but it’s been really keeping me fresh since I started using it and at full size it lasts a pretty long time. It claimed to go on invisible and that’s so true – if you don’t over apply that is. Overall it’s one of the best deodorants I’ve used so far.

CoverGirl Lash Exact Waterproof Mascara

This mascara is outrageously defining and can keep a curl. It lasts a really long time and it’s waterproof, so no smudging after it’s dry! When it comes to mascara this one really gets the job done – and done right.

I wrote a more in depth review on this product in an earlier post here if you want to check it out.

St. Ives ‘Blemish Control Green Tea Scrub’

First of all I just have to comment on the smell of this. It smells so naturally refreshing. When I first used this I expected it to smell all chemical-y and what not, it didn’t in the slightest. It smells kind of like fresh lemon grass.

Any ways, let me stop obsessing over the smell and actually tell you about how well it works. The formula is a little grainy as this is a scrub so you get some exfoliating action there. It’s dermatologists tested, paraben-free and made 100% naturally derived exfoliants.

I’ll be honest with you, I don’t use it regularly because sometimes I just forget, but when I do use it my skin feels really smooth after and my face has been breakout free all month. I’d definitely repurchase another one once this one is finished.

White Rain ‘Sensations Energizing Citrus’ Hydrating Conditioner

Truth be told my hair can be very dry at times and it’s really thick and that can be a problem. Many combs have perished at the hands of my hair and this conditioner has contributed a lot to my efforts to get my hair hydrated and more manageable.

My hair feels silky with it on and after I rinse and let my hair air dry in some curlers it still feels awesome.

Hair Dryer: ELEVATE by Andis

I’m not really a fan of hair dryers or heat styling in general as my hair has quite a bit of issues with dryness all its own with out the added factor of a hair dryer etc. so  I usually just avoid hair dryers most times, but this one I like. It’s my sister’s by the way.

It’s really powerful and it has a setting to make warm air come out instead of hot air. There’s also a setting for the use of cold air as well, I prefer this setting over the hot and warm ones.

Not Favourite:

White Rain ‘Sensations Energizing Citrus’ Hydrating Shampoo

Unlike its conditioning counterpart this shampoo is very drying and strips my hair of not only dirt but some of the oils that my hair really needs. This is just a product that I wouldn’t buy again.

Have you ever used any of them before?

What do you think of the products?

I’ll talk to you lovely people later,
