FIRST IMPRESSIONS | Real Techniques: Core Collection and Starter Kit

Good day all, it sure has been awhile. To get back into the swing of things I’ll start off the week with a post. Here we go:

If you follow me on twitter then you’d know that last Thursday I finally got my Real Techniques starter set and core collection. I was so excited! I was tempted to just tear the packages open but I remembered that I had to take some pictures first, and here they are:

My first thought when I saw this was ‘Huh, I thought they’d be bigger’, but they are a good size. I know that most of you have probably read multiple reviews of these same brushes till you just couldn’t do it any more but . . . bare with me.

These are the first high quality brushes that I’ve been able to get my hands on. Here in Nevis the makeup brushes you’d see in stores would make a pro makeup artist scream bloody murder. I’m not lying, they’re crap! And after starting this blog I’m still at a point where I’m building my makeup empire, I wanted it to not be infested with mediocre brushes, and I didn’t have any other brushes – other than the ones seen here in a previous post and a few others. So I took to the internet to find some high quality brushes at an affordable price.

After searching through Sephora’s nice sets and Sigma’s $400 sets, I was like ‘Wait. What about Real Techniques?’ and I browsed through the site and realised that at Real Techniques I could get more brushes for less and the brushes are also world renowned quality. So, after realising this and saying goodbye to some cash – I can be really cheap sometimes, 😀 – I ordered the brushes, had them sent to my uncles house in the States and then he sent them here. Although they took ages to get to me – thank you uncle – it was definitely worth the wait.

The brushes are just so soft, unlike those scratchy brushes I had before. The two sets together cost $36 USD but in my currency – Eastern Caribbean Dollars – it cost $97.56 XCD plus shipping which added up to $113.68 XCD.

Well worth the money none the less and now I’ll never even have to look at the brushes that I see in stores here again! I’ll continue my makeup collection building, and most likely add some more brushes to it sometime in the future.

I can already see a difference in the way my makeup is applied with these brushes. Thank you Real Techniques!

Bye everyone, I’m off to go get ready for a class I have in an hour.

The Vampire Diaries Inspired Outfit

The Vampire Diaries Inspired Outfit
Hey everyone.
Okay let’s be honest. Who hasn’t pictured themselves as a character on their favourite TV show? Well, I definitely have and today’s post is about what I’d wear if I were a character on The Vampire Diaries. Let’s start off:
The Jacket
If you’ve watched The Vampire Diaries on The CW then you’d know that it’s pretty much a dark show with a lot of dark – mostly black – outfits. This leather jacket would fit in perfectly with that mix. It’s also comfy enough to keep you warm in the cool Mystic falls air, with a hoodie just incase it rains.
The Top
Just something simple to throw on under the jacket and surprisingly this is the most expensive item of clothing here when I thought it would be the jacket or the necklace.
The Heels
I really like these shoes – wish they were mine. Yes, walking around in the woods in heels can be quite difficult, but Caroline manages just fine.
The Sunglasses
In an attempt to keep with that mysterious vibe that the Salvatore brothers seem to emanate, I’d rock these semi dark shades.
The Jeans
These jeans are quite a contrast to the dark theme that I’m trying to keep, but, I just felt that something light was needed in this ensemble. Comfy, fitting jeans just ready for an impromptu chase in the woods.
The Lips
I have a weakness for a dark red lip. They’re just so bold yet subtle at the same time.
The Necklace
This outfit was in desperate need of some colour, hence this gold necklace. Just something simple and nice.
The Ring
And how could I possibly forget my daylight ring! I wouldn’t want to burn. It’s a nice, simple, vintage ring from ASOS. I like it – a lot. I should probably get myself one.
What do you think of this outfit?
Do you watch Vampire Diaries too?
What do you think your role would be if you were a part of the show?
Bye everyone and I’ll talk to you in the next post.

A Trip to the Island Next Door

Last week I went on a field trip with my Spanish class to Saint Kitts where we spent the whole day. I took some pictures, mostly throughout the latter part of the day and I wanted to share them with you guys. I’ve been meaning to post this for so long and it’s finally here.

You can see the Marriott Resort (Saint Kitts) in the distance.

This is Saint Kitts as we were leaving that afternoon.

Again leaving Saint Kitts. You can see a cruise ship docked at Port Zante.

Again leaving.

And there was a guy on the boat taking pictures on the way to Nevis and he was nice enough to send me some of the pictures he was taking. Here are some of them:

There was a pelican following the boat.

This is us getting back to Nevis.

This is the end of the trip and I hope that you’ve enjoyed the pictures.

Bye, and I’ll talk to you guys in the next post.

Valentines Date Destination: The Beach

It’s February! And that means that Valentines Day is only a short time away. Some of you – the non singles – will most likely be going out with your significant others that day, while the rest of us find something else to do.
Some people may not have even planned where they’ll be going or what they’ll be wearing for their date. I’ve come up with some destination outfits that could give you inspiration while you plan out where you’re going or to just give some inspiration on some outfit ideas.

Valentines Date Destination: The Beach

Today’s destination is the beach. Spending a day at the beach can be really fun, for me it’s a place where you can relax and have fun.
Swimsuit
For the swimsuit I chose something really cute and simple. The swimsuit is really the focal point of this outfit, it has the most colour and really catches the eye, without being too much. This comes from Topshop.
The Cover-Up
I threw in a little coverage for a day at the beach with a cover-up.  I really like this one that goes to about mid-thigh with all it lace and fringe-y goodness from John Lewis.
Shoes
Overall I wanted to keep this look pretty simple, but I also wanted every piece to have a voice and these shoes just mellowed right in with everything -in terms of matching – while of course still standing out a bit by bringing in some gold to the mix. These shoes are just so cute and practical for the beach. These shoes are from Sperry Top-Sider.
Bag
Of course if you’re planning to spend a day at the beach you’ll need a bag to cart everything around in. This bag has a lot of space just for that purpose while still managing to look chic. This bag comes from Saks Fifth Avenue.
Accessories
Lastly were at accessories. Since it was basically a day out at the beach I chose something where you could go into the water without worrying about having to take off all your accessories before going in. This is a handmade Mustique bracelet from JIYA.
And so there you have it my Valentines beach outfit.
If you’re interested in any of the clothing items mentioned above you can check them out using the links below.
*P.S – Don’t mind the chair, I was just trying to add to the beach theme.
Bye everyone and I’ll talk to you in my next post!
