The Fairy Tale Tag!

Whether we like to admit it or not, most of us as girls have had a period in our life where the idea of fairy tales and them coming true was just the best thing ever! I saw this tag done by Sammeh over at Odds and Sodz (here) and I just couldn’t resist having a try. You should definitely check out Sammeh’s answers as well as they are just great.

Snow White – Do you consider yourself beautiful?

I know that people say that you should believe that your beautiful because everyone is, and that’s true, but at times it can be hard to remember that and I’m just like ‘no, no, no’ on that day. Then there are other times where I just feel amazing. I don’t get it though because I’m pretty sure that at times where I’ feeling either way I’m still looking at the same face, so it just makes

no sense.Sleeping Beauty – How many hours do you sleep at night?

Well . . . ideally we’re meant to get around 8, but I’d be lying if I said I got that much. Being as obsessed with the internet, reading and pretty much anything procrastinating related combined with the stress of studying, I can estimate that I get about probably 5 hours of sleep in. I do have crashes during the day, especially Saturday’s where I feel like I want to sleep for a year. It’s safe to say that I have a very unhealthy sleeping habit that I should get fixed. Hopefully I can work on that this summer – pinkies crossed.

Cinderella – Do you have a curfew?

Well I don’t go out much so . . . . But really though, my mother can be a bit overprotective at times. But when I do get the chance to go out with friends, curfew is around 9 – 10.

Rapunzel – Do you love being outside?

I love being outside, but I prefer being inside more. I’m more of an indoors person.

Red Riding Hood – Do you trust strangers easily?

I’m very reserved around strangers, I have a wall up around people I don’t know and I’m always cautious and it takes a while for me to warm up to people – part of this is just because I’m a generally shy person.

The Wolf and the Seven Young Kids – Are you easily fooled?

I don’t think so, I’m very skeptical about things. I over analyse and in my head it’s better to not believe and find proof than to just accept something.

Beauty and the Beast – What makes someone beautiful in your eyes?

What makes someone beautiful to me? A person that doesn’t pretend to be someone they’re not. Someone just being themselves 24/7.

The Little Mermaid – What would you sacrifice for love?

I really just don’t know, it depends on how you look at it. But still I have no answer to give. Sorry . . .

The Frog Prince – What do you find disgusting?

I really don’t like ignorance, it’s so upsetting to me. When someone does something wrong that they know will lead up to bigger consequences but they just don’t care. Like for example littering, it urkes me to no end, I mean “Hellooooo, do you want to end u living in a landfill?”. But yeah, ignorance.

Jack and the Beanstalk – Do you have any plants?

Well my mom has the yard filled with them. But having one of my own, I tried a couple of times but then it never really work out. I remember in 6th grade I had my plant outside and something came and at it and so a couple days later and planted something else and sprayed hairspray on it thinking that would keep the animal away, but the hairspray just ended up killing the plant anyway so . . . . But looking back on it now all I’m think is “Really Shannon, hairspray? Really?” :D.

Puss in Boots – Do you have pets? If not, do you want them?

Yep, I have to little munchkins – I mean puppies. It’s funny though because I kind of have a little fear of dogs. I’ve had a few bad experiences with them growing – I was even almost bitten by one – but yet I still love them. Even now with my own dogs I kind of freeze when they start jumping on me – even if I know that they’re just playing.

Bluebeard – What is your weak point?

My sympathy. I’m always trying to find something good in what someone’s done or a situation. I don’t like  jumping to conclusions or being judgmental.

Pinocchio – What is your biggest wish?

Well I have many dreams; I want to publish some books of stories I have running through my brain, to be a pro makeup artist, to move to London/New York/Australia and the list just goes on. But my BIGGEST dream I would have to say is to get my fashion line up and running, that would just make me so happy to have accomplished that.

Peter Pan – What is your mental age?

My mental age differs depending on who I’m with and the situation. I can be a completely immature person – like there’s a 9 year old trapped inside me – there are literally times when I’m just itching to annoy someone. My friends can understand that because they’re just the same. And then at other times it’s like the 9 year old’s 30-something year old mother is trapped me. I’ve been told that at times I seem older than I am because of the things I say or the way that I think.

The Star Money – What is your most valuable possession?

Well I guess that would have to be my laptop, I am obsessed with the internet after all, I barely eve watch TV any – other than for my special shows, I mean a girl has to get her weekly does of Pretty Little Liars. But yeah though, the laptop.

Gold Mary & Pitch Mary – Are you a hard worker or a lazy one?

It’s sad to say but . . . I’m a lazy bum. Another thing that I need to work on. 😀

The Snow Queen – Who is your best friend?

I have three best friends and we’re just a bag full of crazy – some more so that other. But yeah, their names are Brianna, Rachelle and Noelissa. I can always count on them to be there for me when I need it.

The Princess and the Pea – Are you sensitive?

Very much so, overly so actually. The over-analyst in me can’t help it.

Godfather Death – What qualities make a good parent?

Trust and understanding. For a parent I think that it’s very important to remember that at one point you were right at the stage where your child(ren) is/are and it’s really good to be understanding bout that – don’t be too hard on them. Trust, it’s an important thing, I mean without trust in the relationship where are you, it’s important to built it in your relationship and  to intertwine some understanding with that too.

The Twelve Dancing Princesses / The Worn-Out Dancing Shoes – Do you like parties?

I do, although I do get little bouts of anxiety before I go, but it’s all gone by the time I get there. There good, but too much of a good thing . . . .

The Emperor’s New Clothes – Do you care a lot about your clothing?

Yes, I do. I find that clothing is just one of the best methods of self expression. There’s so many ways to mix and match and it’s a great feeling to put a look together and be like “Yep, I did that”.

The Brave Little Tailor – Do you consider yourself brave?

I’m a fake brave person. When I’m in a situation where I have to be, I put on a brave face while I’m secretly screaming on the inside. But you know, ‘gotta go whatcha gotta do’.

And there you have it, my answers to ‘The Fairy Tale Tag’, I hope that you’ve enjoyed it, I know that I definitely had fun writing this! I tag everyone to do this.

Bye everyone and I’ll talk to you in the next post!

The Resemblance is Uncanny

The Resemblance is Uncanny

Makeup Revolution is a new cosmetics brand in the UK and since its launch; the eye palettes that have really caught people’s attention are the iconic palettes that are the perfect dupes of the Urban Decay Naked palettes.

It’s not hard to see the solid resemblance between them but there is one distinct difference between them; while the Naked palettes can go for about £37, the iconic palettes go for a staggering £4, and they have just about the same quality in pigmentation and staying power.

If you live in the UK and you’ve wanted to get your hands on all or any of the Naked palettes, but couldn’t because of the steep price, then I’d recommend that you look into these dupe palettes.

Here’s a post comparing swatches from the Naked 3 palette and the Iconic 3 palette.

The links to each Iconic palette is down below:

Would you buy any of the iconic palettes?

Bye everyone and I’ll talk to you in the next post!

Blogger Wishlist

I thought I’d do a blogger wish list post as there are definitely some blog enhancing tools that I’ve been wanting for a while now. Check it out:
Blogger Wishlist
  1. A Camera

What’s a beauty/fashion blog without pictures, right?

I’m particularly interested in the Canon Rebel t5i as I’ve read a lot of positive reviews about it and I’ve seen the quality of pictures that it can produce. I can have this, and then leave my smaller camera for when I’m pressed for time and space when I’m heading out.

  1. iPad

This would make blogging on the go so much easier, I wouldn’t have to lug around my laptop and its bulky case – Lord knows it’s heavy. So this would be really convenient.

  1. Laptop

Although I do have a laptop, I’ve had it for a bit over two years now and it’s been through a lot since I’ve gotten it – falls and viruses to be exact – and I’m just so glad that it’s still with me right now; but with it crashing once or twice a week now, I think the end is near.

  1. Camera Bag

What’s a better way to cart around your camera than in style? I really like this camera case from JCPenney. It’s simple and chic and the light pink colouring just adds to my love for it; it could be paired with so many outfits.

  1. A Notebook

Any corky notebook would do, and it would be best if I started planning what my blog posts would be about at this point. Yes I really don’t plan these things. I absolutely suck at organising. Planning ahead would definitely help me to prioritize more with blogging.

  1. Pens

What better way to plan my next blog posts in my funky looking notebook than with some funky looking pens? The pens in the picture are perfect candidates for the job.

Let’s see just how fast I can accumulate the things on this wishlist. Maybe by this time next year I’d of already gotten them.

Are you a fellow blogger?

What are some things that are on your wishlist?

Bye everyone and I’ll talk to you in the next post!

REVIEW | L.A Girls PRO Conceal HD Concealer and Swatches

This is the PRO Conceal HD Concealer from L.A Girls in the shade Cool Tan ‘GC980’.

 Swatch

Blanded

I bought this concealer with the intention of using it as a highlighter, but in truth I think I got the wrong shade for my complexion.

The concealer comes equipped with it’s own brush to make applying it to your skin easier. I wouldn’t recommend that you try to blend the concealer with that brush though, it doesn’t do a great job at it. So just grab a concealer brush and use that to blend. Another thing, don’t take too long after applying it to your skin to blend it, it’s hard enough to get it blended as is.

Since this isn’t my shade, it makes me look ‘ghosted out’ when ever I use it, as you can see in the swatch, so I can’t really comment much on the colour pay-off. But even still, the times where I’ve used it under my eyes it really muted the bags that were there.

Overall I think that this is a good concealer, a bit on the hard side to blend though and it’s easy to apply to the skin. I’d repurchase it, but in the right shade next time – hopefully.

Bye everyone, I’ll talk to you in the next post.

AVON ANEW Platinum Eye and Lip | FIRST IMPRESSIONS

This is the first product that I’ve ever tried from AVON. It was gifted to me from a friend on my birthday last Thursday. This eye and lip cream comes from AVON’s ANEW line of products and what it does is that it helps to stimulate the production of a key skin protein responsible for youthful cell shape (paxillin). It also helps to recontour the look of the eye and lip area.

(In a study) After 3 days, 86% felt the appearance of deep vertical lines above and below the lips were visibly filled in. In 2 weeks, 85% agreed eyes have a more reshaped look and youthful definition.

The cream comes with an applicator. The round silver end for application around the eyes and the flat end the application on and around the lips. Applying the cream is very easy, and with how little product I was able to use to do both my eyes and lips this product should last me well past two weeks – I barely made a dent. The cream has an aloe scent and it’s pretty simple to use, you don’t have to get your hands messy to use it.

I just started using this product tonight and in two weeks I’ll give you all a full review of how this product is for me.

Bye all!

My Spring Beauty Wishlist

My Spring Beauty Wishlist
Hello everyone, how have you all been? It’s almost Spring and I know that some of you are way ahead on stocking up for your Spring essentials – unlike me. But here’s the list of things that I’d like to add to my Spring collection.
When I think of Spring makeup I think about fresh faced looks – simple and sweet with a splash of colour.
The NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Trinidad
First up is this sheer foundation from NARS in the shade Trinidad. It helps to keep skin hydrated and gives and glowing and natural finish. This is ideal for me because I don’t usually like to wear full coverage foundation, but on days that I’d like to this foundation also offers buildable coverage.

Aveeno Protect + Hydrate Lotion Sunscreen with Broad Spectrum SPF 70

You have to remember your sun block! And I like this one because not only does it protect against the sun’s rays but it also hydrates as well – I’m a sucker for moisturising! It’s sweat and water resistant and good both your face and body. It only works for 80 minutes though, so you’d have to bring it along for touch ups.

6-Piece Geometric Eyeshadow Palette

I love E.L.F and their affordable, quality products. I’m not sure if I mentioned this before but I really like nude eyeshadows and tend to use them the most. This 6 piece eyeshadow palette from E.L.F is packed with them and only costs $3! Another plus for me is that they’re shimmery as well. It’d be perfect for me for Spring.

Real Techniques Blush Brush

I’m absolutely in love with my Real Techniques brushes. They’re are such good quality and efficient and I’d think that this blush brush would be no different. This brush would be great for applying some blush to my cheekbones.

Sigma | E32 – Exact Blend

I love a good blended eyeshadow and this E32 exact blend brush from Sigma seems a good brush for the job. I heard a lot of good things about Sigma and I’ve been wanting to try some of their brushes for a while.

Spring Capsule Collection by Rita Ora for Rimmel London

I love these lip colours for Spring in Rimmel’s new  Spring Capsule Collection which they collaborated on with Rita Ora. They’re lip crayons giving a smooth application. Can’t wait!

So I know that the radio silence has been . . . a bit much, but with final exams coming up I do have quite a lot of things to do and so my posting wont be too regular for the next couple of months, but that does not meant that I will stop blogging completely. I’ll continue to try and blog as much as I can. I hope you all understand.

Bye everyone! I’ll talk to you in the next post!

My Go-To Powder Foundation

Hello everyone!

In today’s post I’ll be telling you about my current go to pressed powder foundation. The powder foundation that I find myself grabbing for the most lately is this ‘Amuse Pressed Powder’.

P1010500(VRO)

P1010492(VRO)

P1010495(VRO)

It’s very easy to apply and it allows you to build up to your preferred coverage. Being able to chose from sheer, to medium to full coverage on any given day with just one product is something that is very appealing to me and I can just put on more in the areas where I usually get oily (the dreaded T).

This does come with a sponge, but in my opinion, the sponges that powder compacts come with don’t offer much flexibility in the application process. The sponges give you instant full coverage and are not too great for blending.

The powder has a slight florally-ish smell to it, nothing that’s prominent and hardly even noticeable.

Overall it’s one of my favourite pressed powders.

Bye everyone, I’ll talk to you in the next post!
