AVON ANEW Platinum Eye and Lip | FIRST IMPRESSIONS

This is the first product that I’ve ever tried from AVON. It was gifted to me from a friend on my birthday last Thursday. This eye and lip cream comes from AVON’s ANEW line of products and what it does is that it helps to stimulate the production of a key skin protein responsible for youthful cell shape (paxillin). It also helps to recontour the look of the eye and lip area.

(In a study) After 3 days, 86% felt the appearance of deep vertical lines above and below the lips were visibly filled in. In 2 weeks, 85% agreed eyes have a more reshaped look and youthful definition.

The cream comes with an applicator. The round silver end for application around the eyes and the flat end the application on and around the lips. Applying the cream is very easy, and with how little product I was able to use to do both my eyes and lips this product should last me well past two weeks – I barely made a dent. The cream has an aloe scent and it’s pretty simple to use, you don’t have to get your hands messy to use it.

I just started using this product tonight and in two weeks I’ll give you all a full review of how this product is for me.

Bye all!

An Overview of My Birthday

Hello everyone, as the title of this post suggests . . .  I’ll being giving you guys a bit of insight on my birthday this past Thursday.

On Thursday morning I woke up 17 and the day was been filled with happy birthdays, hugs and just generally lots of love. It’s really nice to have a refresher of how much people care and I’m really grateful to have the life that I do and to have been blessed to have lived as long as I have.

My favourite part of birthdays is the cake:

German chocolate cake with caramelized coconut on top.

I had fun that day.

Bye everyone and I hope that you’ll enjoy your birthdays as well.

My Spring Beauty Wishlist

My Spring Beauty Wishlist
Hello everyone, how have you all been? It’s almost Spring and I know that some of you are way ahead on stocking up for your Spring essentials – unlike me. But here’s the list of things that I’d like to add to my Spring collection.
When I think of Spring makeup I think about fresh faced looks – simple and sweet with a splash of colour.
The NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Trinidad
First up is this sheer foundation from NARS in the shade Trinidad. It helps to keep skin hydrated and gives and glowing and natural finish. This is ideal for me because I don’t usually like to wear full coverage foundation, but on days that I’d like to this foundation also offers buildable coverage.

Aveeno Protect + Hydrate Lotion Sunscreen with Broad Spectrum SPF 70

You have to remember your sun block! And I like this one because not only does it protect against the sun’s rays but it also hydrates as well – I’m a sucker for moisturising! It’s sweat and water resistant and good both your face and body. It only works for 80 minutes though, so you’d have to bring it along for touch ups.

6-Piece Geometric Eyeshadow Palette

I love E.L.F and their affordable, quality products. I’m not sure if I mentioned this before but I really like nude eyeshadows and tend to use them the most. This 6 piece eyeshadow palette from E.L.F is packed with them and only costs $3! Another plus for me is that they’re shimmery as well. It’d be perfect for me for Spring.

Real Techniques Blush Brush

I’m absolutely in love with my Real Techniques brushes. They’re are such good quality and efficient and I’d think that this blush brush would be no different. This brush would be great for applying some blush to my cheekbones.

Sigma | E32 – Exact Blend

I love a good blended eyeshadow and this E32 exact blend brush from Sigma seems a good brush for the job. I heard a lot of good things about Sigma and I’ve been wanting to try some of their brushes for a while.

Spring Capsule Collection by Rita Ora for Rimmel London

I love these lip colours for Spring in Rimmel’s new  Spring Capsule Collection which they collaborated on with Rita Ora. They’re lip crayons giving a smooth application. Can’t wait!

So I know that the radio silence has been . . . a bit much, but with final exams coming up I do have quite a lot of things to do and so my posting wont be too regular for the next couple of months, but that does not meant that I will stop blogging completely. I’ll continue to try and blog as much as I can. I hope you all understand.

Bye everyone! I’ll talk to you in the next post!

My Go-To Powder Foundation

Hello everyone!

In today’s post I’ll be telling you about my current go to pressed powder foundation. The powder foundation that I find myself grabbing for the most lately is this ‘Amuse Pressed Powder’.

P1010500(VRO)

P1010492(VRO)

P1010495(VRO)

It’s very easy to apply and it allows you to build up to your preferred coverage. Being able to chose from sheer, to medium to full coverage on any given day with just one product is something that is very appealing to me and I can just put on more in the areas where I usually get oily (the dreaded T).

This does come with a sponge, but in my opinion, the sponges that powder compacts come with don’t offer much flexibility in the application process. The sponges give you instant full coverage and are not too great for blending.

The powder has a slight florally-ish smell to it, nothing that’s prominent and hardly even noticeable.

Overall it’s one of my favourite pressed powders.

Bye everyone, I’ll talk to you in the next post!

FIRST IMPRESSIONS | Real Techniques: Core Collection and Starter Kit

Good day all, it sure has been awhile. To get back into the swing of things I’ll start off the week with a post. Here we go:

If you follow me on twitter then you’d know that last Thursday I finally got my Real Techniques starter set and core collection. I was so excited! I was tempted to just tear the packages open but I remembered that I had to take some pictures first, and here they are:

My first thought when I saw this was ‘Huh, I thought they’d be bigger’, but they are a good size. I know that most of you have probably read multiple reviews of these same brushes till you just couldn’t do it any more but . . . bare with me.

These are the first high quality brushes that I’ve been able to get my hands on. Here in Nevis the makeup brushes you’d see in stores would make a pro makeup artist scream bloody murder. I’m not lying, they’re crap! And after starting this blog I’m still at a point where I’m building my makeup empire, I wanted it to not be infested with mediocre brushes, and I didn’t have any other brushes – other than the ones seen here in a previous post and a few others. So I took to the internet to find some high quality brushes at an affordable price.

After searching through Sephora’s nice sets and Sigma’s $400 sets, I was like ‘Wait. What about Real Techniques?’ and I browsed through the site and realised that at Real Techniques I could get more brushes for less and the brushes are also world renowned quality. So, after realising this and saying goodbye to some cash – I can be really cheap sometimes, 😀 – I ordered the brushes, had them sent to my uncles house in the States and then he sent them here. Although they took ages to get to me – thank you uncle – it was definitely worth the wait.

The brushes are just so soft, unlike those scratchy brushes I had before. The two sets together cost $36 USD but in my currency – Eastern Caribbean Dollars – it cost $97.56 XCD plus shipping which added up to $113.68 XCD.

Well worth the money none the less and now I’ll never even have to look at the brushes that I see in stores here again! I’ll continue my makeup collection building, and most likely add some more brushes to it sometime in the future.

I can already see a difference in the way my makeup is applied with these brushes. Thank you Real Techniques!

Bye everyone, I’m off to go get ready for a class I have in an hour.

Fashion Friday #1

Hey all, I know it’s been a while since my last post and that my posting hasn’t been too regular this month, but the final exam rush has started way earlier than I expected with all those assignments to do and tests to study for. But, I will still try my best to do posts at least twice a week. That’s all that I can promise at this point and come June, things should be back to normal if not better.
So, on with the post. Today’s post is ‘Fashion Friday’ where I have concocted – I’d say one of my best clothing combinations yet.
Fashion Friday #1
Blazer
This is a gold sequinned blazer from Topshop at a price of $74. I couldn’t find this particular jacket anywhere on the internet, but here’s a pretty good look alike, still from Topshop for £39.20. I really like the jacket with all it’s sequins and such, it’s simple yet it says a lot, and it really just brings the whole outfit together.
Dress
I have a crush on this dress. It’s a white dress with just a tad bit of floral print. There’s a cut out in the mid-centre and a partial gold belt at the front. Shape-wise it’s just a sleeveless body hugging dress, but the detailing just really makes it pop and stand out. The dress is from Sass and Bide – they have some outrageously gorgeous clothing.
Shoes
I chose these shoes as the colour really highlighted the floral pattern of the dress and also because those shoes are just something else. I’ve been wanting a pair of sneaker styled stilettos. These come from heels.com here for $89.99 and their from the brand ‘Priviledged’ and right now up until February 5th, heels.com is offering free second day shipping as well as free return – so take advantage while you can.
Jewellery
I chose these earings because the outfit is already so out there that I just wanted to keep accessories minimal and simple. The 14K white gold diamond studs come from JCPenney at a price of $833.33, but you can get a pair of zirconia look alikes at Amazon for a way lower price of $49.00 here.
Clutch
This clutch comes from Jimmy Choo at a price of $1,450 here, but that is outrageously expensive so I found some alternatives for you guys. At River Island you can get a somewhat similar clutch here for £12.00 or you could also get a completely gold envelop clutch at eBay for $11.48 here. $1,450 here, but that is outrageously expensive so I found some alternatives for you guys.
Sunglasses
I really like round sunglasses, these ones are from Chanel for £220 here or you can get something similar at ASOS here for a way lower price of £10.
What do you guys think of this outfit?
What would you change?
Which items do you like most?
Bye everyone, and I’ll talk to you in my next post.
Stay classy.
